You’ve planned your perfect vacation and you’re dreaming of a beautiful holiday in an exotic location – everything has been booked from your hotels, to your flights but have you given a thought about your dental care? This is one point that is often overlooked by many and if you face any dental issues on your trip, your entire holiday may be ruined. Here are a few tips of how you can deal with any Dental issues while traveling.

Make an appointment with your dental care provider before you leave: It’s important to get a quick dental check up with your trusted dentist at Yaletown Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry before you head off for your holiday. If required, get your teeth cleaned but avoid getting any major dental treatments done just before your trip. Let your dentist know you’ll be travelling and ask them for any advice as well.

What do you do if your crown comes out? You may think that this is a nightmare that could cut your holiday short, but there is a remedy to this problem. Firstly, you should make sure that the area is clean of any food debris and the next step would be to check where to reinsert your crown in the correct position to avoid shifting and other problems later. Once the area has been cleaned thoroughly and you are sure of where to place the crown, place a small amount of over the counter temporary dental cement paste which should be available at your nearest drug store. Place the crown over the paste and bite down gently to ensure the crown has been properly placed.

Lost your dental filling? This is also a common problem but the most important point is to ensure that the exposed area is always covered so that food debris does not enter. You can purchase certain products which may act as temporary dental fillings form your nearest drug store but if nothing is available, you can also use sugar free gum or wax.

Lose a tooth? You may get into a situation where your tooth falls out. If there’s no dentist in sight, make sure you locate the fallen tooth and handle it carefully by avoiding touching the roots. Holding it by the crown, wash it so that no dirt remains but avoid scrubbing the tooth and place it into a glass of cold milk to preserve it. Then you search for the nearest dentist.

Got a fractured tooth? The first thing you do is to clean the area thoroughly with warm water and place sterile gauze on the tooth, covering it so that no air can access it. Avoid allowing cool liquids to touch your fractured tooth as well. Get a frozen bag of veggies or anything in your freezer or use a cold compress to decrease any swelling that may occur. Visit a dentist as soon as possible.

While there are many scenarios that may occur, you should always maintain good oral hygiene and avoid sugary drinks which are extremely bad for your teeth. Being on holiday, you may not be able to completely avoid sugary drinks but consciously keeping your sugary liquid intake at a minimum will have your teeth thanking you later. As with all dental issues, do ask your hotel concierge or call your insurance hotline to find your nearest dentist.

The nature of the country’s layout means that you often have to pick just one city to visit, as there is such a long travelling time between them. So with that in mind, how do you pick the city to visit? Here are some of the best, as well as the reasons why you should give them a try.

Sydney

There are plenty of hotel options in Sydney to choose from as this is the premier destination for tourists in Australia. Melbourne

Melbourne is another strong contender for being the number one holiday destination in Australia. The independent coffee stores of this city will rival any in the world, and you can be sure to find foodie treats galore as well. Museums, art galleries, zoos, and more all contribute to making it one of the most exciting destinations to go for. You can pick up fresh produce at farmer’s markets, or browse shopping malls for designer gear. There’s a real rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney which goes back a long way – now’s your chance to figure out for yourself which one of them is the most appealing.

Canberra

Why not consider going to the capital of Australia for your holiday? It is chronically underappreciated, especially when you consider how unique it is. The city was built purposefully to be a capital, and it shows in the neat layout as well as the plentiful areas of greenery. There are a lot of monuments and important historic buildings to see here, as well as all of the normal attractions of any city – nightlife, food, entertainment, culture, and museums. There’s definitely more to Canberra than you may have been led to believe, so don’t rule it out just yet.

Cairns

If you like sunshine all year round, even in the winter, then Cairns can provide it. The waterfront is beautiful and is right next to the city centre, with a saltwater lagoon complete with sandy beach for your sunbathing and swimming needs. All in the same precinct you can find cafes, bars, restaurants, play areas for the kids, skate parks, volleyball courts, and more – all of the entertainment you could need for the day. You can also head up into the hills for rainforest views and amazing experiences in nature. This is all without mentioning the markets, zoos, museums, aquariums, shopping centres, and so on – all found in this thriving modern city.

Brisbane

There’s another artificial beach in Brisbane, to counteract the fact that there are bull sharks in the river – a manmade set of pools where families come to enjoy a barbecue on their days off. You can climb the Kangaroo Cliffs or go for a run at Kangaroo Point, and stroll around with a picnic on the beautiful parkland in the city. Nights out are a lot of fun here, and there is art and culture to be found in the streets. The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an absolute highlight of Brisbane that you won’t want to miss – a favourite with travellers and locals alike, it’s the place to go if you want to cuddle a koala.

With so many options to choose from, you are definitely going to have your work cut out for you. You might just find that you end up booking more than one holiday in Australia – after all, it would be rude not to try them all.

You’re sitting at your computer, trying to refresh the page you’re browsing so you can get your chance at ordering the hottest gift the moment it becomes available. It finally loads, only with the dreaded “out of stock” message because your internet runs at dial up speeds. Don’t miss out on that great deal net time, there are plenty of reasons why you may be experiencing this lag, and simple solutions to help you get your internet back up to speed. You’re Too Far from Your Wifi Router:

While it may be more enjoyable to binge watch from your backyard hammock with a margarita in hand, you may just be too far from your wireless router to get a strong signal. Even within your own four walls, distance and obstructions such as walls, windows and furniture can cause your signal to slow down along the way.

Easy Solution: Make sure your router is in a centralized location in your home, and invest in a range extender, a device that is designed to boost your wireless signal. If speed is particular important for a particular project, consider positioning yourself near the router or plugging in to an Ethernet cable.

Too Many Devices on your Connection:

Just like when you have too many power-sucking electronics plugged in and the lights dim in your house due to a power drain, too many devices utilizing your connection can also cause a speed drain. If you have several people connected to your wireless, and your tablet, laptop, cell phone and the new gadget of the week all drawing off the same source, it’s bound to slow down.

Easy Solution: This is an easy fix. If you have too many devices uses your connection, shut some of them down when you’re not using them, or limit how many people can access your wireless internet. Make sure you have a password protected connection too, so the neighbors aren’t tapping into your wireless, slowing you down.

Your Equipment isn’t at its Top Performance:

Technology moves fast, and older devices may not be able to perform at top speeds, due to their age, capabilities, or lack of free space. Old routers and modems may be not be able to process information at the same rate as their newer counterparts.

Easy Solution: Make sure your computer is free of any malware or spyware that can cause significant slowdowns. Also consider deleting old files or moving them to an external hard drive to free up space. If all is well there, it may be time to upgrade your wireless router or your modem.

Too Much Traffic to the Site You’re Visiting:

Traffic jams don’t just happen on the highway, they can also happen online when too many people try to visit one site at the same time. This can be due to inadequate servers, or just a large influx of users at the same time.

Easy Solution: Preventing this slow down is often out of your hands, but it’s worth visiting the particular site during less popular hours, such as early morning or late evening, depending on the content of the site.
