If you’re reading this, you have to know what a blog is, since you are reading an article on one!

But have you ever stopped and thought to yourself “why just keep reading blog articles?” “Why not be more of a participant?”

People think that starting a blog is hard, but really it doesn’t have to be. Many people are up and running in less than an hour, usually around a half an hour or so is all it takes to get things working initially. After that, the content flows faster and faster the more you do it. It’s almost like riding a bicycle, really.

Blogging has a long and illustrious history, and if you look at the date for the first blog (1994!) it closely coincides with the birth of the first web browsers etc. that is to say the modern internet we all know and enjoy today.

I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that it’s easy to generate traffic to a blog. Especially today, there is a lot of content out there and some of it is almost never read. But quality content is a different story. People who write quality content and are not completely clueless about how to get across to other people will do much better than that, invariably.

Having an online presence in the form of a blog is often a very useful calling card in many industries. It lends to you credibility and allows people to verify many things about your character quickly and accurately. In fact, in many industries, the blog is even starting to replace the traditional CV/Resume for many reasons. The main one is that a CV just doesn’t really tell a potential employer or client what they really need to know about you! Blogs, on the other hand, are an excellent platform for showing off your expertise, debating issues related to your marketable skills products and services etc., and just in general demonstrating your knowledge and professionalism, all of which can be very impressive out there in the real world.

You may ask, why are we encouraging you to compete with us? Let’s just say there is room enough for those of you who are actually going to read this article all the way through, and do something about it. Even if you are in our field, we appreciate your company.
