TouchBrowser Mobile Browser Gets Reviewed reviews | (0)
Makayama recently announced the release of their Touchbrowser for Windows Mobile Pocket PC's. Their goal is to provide touch-based panning around web pages similar to Safari on iPhone. After playing with TouchBrowser 1.0.1, I have to say its a great first start. The keypad was very usable with my finger within portrait mode, though it would have been more usable if it was QWERTY. The browser's auto detection of an available mobile site was quite good, though the zoom function only appeared to control the font size. There is a button to control mobile versus desktop browser however ...

Windows Mobile 6.1: “Full Desktop Browsing?” reviews | (3)
A few weeks ago at CTIA Microsoft announced the release of Windows Mobile 6.1 for both the Pocket PC and Smartphone platforms touting easier management of wifi and bluetooth connections, threaded text messaging and a full desktop browsing experience in Pocket IE (PIE). Since I've already lamented the poor wifi capability of every Windows Mobile release, I'm going to take a closer look at their browsing support and, more specifically, AJAX support in the latest release of Pocket IE on Windows Mobile 6.1. One caveat is that I'm not using an officially supported Pocket IE install, so it's possible that ...

Test Driving Boingo Mobile reviews | (1)
So I've gotten a chance to spend some time tinkering with Boingo mobile on my Windows Mobile phone. If you recall, Boingo recently entered into an agreement with Fring to include IM and voice messaging into their application. At first, I must admit that I was a bit skeptical of the application. I've had a Windows Mobile phone for over two years and rarely use the wireless internet to surf the web because of the complexity of configuring wifi on a Pocket PC. In addition, adding new applications on a handheld can be risky as they tend to shorten battery ...

    21 Movie Disappoints reviews | (0)
Maybe it was because of my high expectations, or the fact that I've been looking forward to it for a month, but I found 21, the movie chronicling the exploits of the infamous MIT Blackjack team, to be utterly underwhelming. It's not often that I'll make the effort to go a see a movie on opening night. I don't handle crowds very well and prefer to hit a week night showing to avoid the noise. I made an exception on 21 because I was just so excited. First the good parts: Kevin Spacey was amazing as always, as was the only ...

Yahoo Portal Redesigned for Search? reviews | (1)
This morning we awoke to a brand new, redesigned Yahoo homepage featuring a centered logo. Rather than having the Yahoo location on the left with a Search box on the right, the Logo is centered and the Search box is underneath it. Mashable has a good side-by-side comparison for you to check out. The puzzling thing about this shuffling is that it actually moves the start of Yahoo's portal content down. This means that less of the portal links will be displayed "above the fold," where users will see them on first glance. The design isn't more attractive in my opinion ...
