    Acer A1 Android smartphone packs processing punch gadgets | Comments Off
    Acer just launched its A1 phone in France and Germany sporting Android and a heavy duty 768 MHz processor. The A1 has a large 3.5-inch touchscreen with 800 x 480 resolution.     Hot on the heels of a study that found the Palm Pre second only to the iPhone in terms of mindshare comes word that Verizon may be dumping its plans to carry the device. The two companies never officially announced a partnership, but the word is that Verizon is backing away from talks with Palm.     Leaked pictures of the Microsoft Pink project’s Turtle and Pure gadgets | Comments Off
      Microsoft is having a huge week with the leak of information about the Microsoft Courier tablet and its Project Pink skunkworks phones getting a sneak preview. These are the latest concepts to come from teaming up Danger’s former Sidekick team with the Zune. The Turtle (above) is interesting because of its unusual design, however it looks comfortable to hold.     Gizmodo has the scoop on the prototype Microsoft Courier device that has two screens in a Kindle form factor. It allows a user to interact via touchscreen or stylus and has only one iPhone-eque home button. This is another glimpse of how Microsoft is looking to weave touchscreen technology for the Surface into every new product.     First Google Sync made it ridiculously easy to sync your calendar and contacts to your iPhone, Windows Mobile or Symbian S60 phone. Now Google Sync will also allow you to get push Gmail on your iPhone, iPod Touch or WinMo smartphone. Push Gmail means that emails will be delivered to your phone as soon as they are received.     Both AT&T and Verizon are coming to terms with the FCC’s stance on Net Neutrality, but only on hard-wired broadband networks. However the two largest mobile carriers in the U.S. are protesting the FCC’s decision to apply net neutrality across mobile networks. The carriers say that the landscape is too competitive and bandwidth is too scarce to permit any kind of traffic to flow across their mobile networks.     Microsoft’s iPhone killers: The Turtle and next-gen Sidekick gadgets | Comments Off
    Microsoft got into the handset market last year with the acquisition of Sidekick-maker Danger and its 2010 roadmap is starting to shape up. The most notable models being the vertical slider pictured above and called the Turtle and the next iteration of Sidekick’s popular device. Windows Mobile 7 isn’t slated for release until late next year, but there’s no telling when these could hit the market.
