Acer just launched its A1 phone in France and Germany sporting Android and a heavy duty 768 MHz processor. The A1 has a large 3.5-inch touchscreen with 800 x 480 resolution.
The A1 doesn’t have a full hardware keyboard, but does have built-in GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. It also has a 5.9 megapixel camera with autofocus but no flash.
Unfortunately the lack of a flash keeps most phones from being serious tools, aside from collaborations like the Motorola x Kodak Motozine Z5. So why bother building in anything more than a 3 pixel camera for Web-safe images?
The A1 steps into the flurry of Android phones coming out lately and sets the bar pretty high in terms of processing power. Some people will never buy a phone without a keyboard, but they can just snag the new Moto CLIQ.
