If you haven’t heard of this dreadful device yet, the iTwinge is a full QWERTY keyboard that docks onto the bottom of your iPhone. However I’m still hoping that all the hype is just a bad joke.
Not only is this thing hulking and ugly, it would also block half of your screen rendering your iPhone useless for anything other than typing. The iTwinge also represents one way that Apple is under-serving its market in a very serious way.
The iPhone is beautiful and just look at all that screen real estate. While that’s great for passive experiences like surfing the Web of watching videos, it doesn’t give users enough capability to act.
Once you’re ready to do any serious work or even type an email, the keyboard is insufficient. Users barely tolerate the on-screen keyboards for sending text messages and many smartphone addicts refuse to own any phone without an actual keyboard.
What I can say is that this ugly circus freak of an add-on isn’t the right way to solve the problem.
