Kogan was all set to release the second Android phone on the market in the world, the Kogan Agora. Now the minor Australian handset maker has delayed the release of the Agora indefinitely and will likely slide back into anonymity.
Founder Ruslan Kogan has indefinitely delayed launch of the Agora based on interoperability issues that will arise in the near future. Apparently the phone can’t even handle the screen resolution that Android supports.
Kogan’s idea of selling an affordable smartphone unlocked and free of contract obligations, was a lofty goal and an admirable one. The delayed launch is also a setback for early adopters hoping to get their hands on what would have been the second Android phone on the market. Hopefully we’ll start seeing products launch soon based on the designs shown earlier this month at CES.
