Scrollmotion brings Iceberg E-Book reader to the iPhone

While Scrollmotion started out by develop iPhone applications for customers like the Chicago Tribune, the company is now bringing its full-featured Iceberg e-book reader to the iPhone app store. Scrollmotion is also getting some attention by offering books from publishers such as Houghton Mifflin, Simon & Schuster, Random House and the Penguin Group.

E-books are just becoming available on mobile devices other than full-fledged e-book readers such as Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s e-book reader line. HaperCollins has just recently released some of its titles to the Nintendo DS this month.

There are other e-book readers such as the Touchbook Reader application, but it doesn’t have the support of the major publishing houses. however Touchbook works by publishing books that are out of copyright such as classic literary works.

It will be interesting to see how many bookworms flock to the iPhone as an e-book reader. While it’s very portable, the screen is only so large and may be tiring to read on. Either way I think many could turn to their iPhones as a way to read on their commute on trains or planes into major cities.
