Skyfire has released the Beta 0.85 version of its mobile browser for Windows Mobile and Symbian phones. The Skyfire browser uses a caching to technique to render an image of what the site looks like to your phone. By caching the site on their servers, Skyfire can support Flash and other rich Internet applications.
The latest upgrade from Skyfire provides support for VGA devices. For Windows Mobile this means most notably the new new HT Touch and Touch Pro and the AT&T Fuze. For Symbian devices this provides a browser for a whole host of E and N series smartphones.
In addition, Skyfire is expanding their Beta to include availability in the UK and to no longer require email registration to use the mobile browser. The Skyfire browser provides one of the true-est renderings of any site on a mobile device.
I’ve long believed that the introduction of Flash on devices like Windows Mobile and Android will make Skyfire of limited long-term value. However I’ve been saying that for over a year and there’s still not a single mobile browser that does a good job of supporting flash on a mobile device.
