The Nokia N97 was just announced as a portable touch screen smartphone with enough features and a sleek design that’s sure to make nearly any gadget geek drool. Nokia is finally getting into the touch revolution and is doing so in a a big way with a touch screen that provides tactile feedback when you press buttons.
The Nokia N97 also has a full QWERTY keyboard, a feature that many iPhone users are longing for. The screen tilts up to reveal the keyboard and still keep the screen visible when closed.
Nokia has also built A-GPS into the N97 to allow for a faster location lock than with traditional GPS. The device also includes a virtual compass to determine which direction you’re facing. These two features combined should enable developers to create full turn-by-turn driving directions applications.
The N97 is also designed for advanced multimedia purposes. The screen comes in at 3.5″ with a 16:9 wide screen ratio for watching movies. The device also includes a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, which is becoming more common as a Nokia add-on.
