AT&T Launching ‘My Communities’ Mobile Social Networking

AT&T is launching a service called My Communities that allows you to access your social networking profiles and messages for just $2.99 per month. This could be a reasonably priced alternative to buying a whole data plan if you only really want to be able to see social networks on your mobile phone.

My Communities will allow you to see information from MySpace, Photobucket, LiveJournal, Xanga, AsianAve and Blackplanet based on a partnership with Intercasting Corp. They don’t have Facebook access yet, which would really make for an impressive offering.

The screenshots below show a simplified interface that aggregates all your network and profile data. That way you can change your status and check out what your friends are up to while you’re on the go.

This is an impressive and innovative offering for AT&T. It can help get people on the mobile web that don’t want to pay for an expensive data plan. Hopefully they can include Facebook updates to make it a really powerful tool for their customers.
