The full text message reads, “Attn faithful customers both myself and my associates will be in vegas this coming weekend bad news is we will not be able to complete sales good news now until midnight thursday gs are 35 eights 110 quads 210 so stock up and we will be back Sunday night.” The DEA displayed the screen grab above when they announced the bust of an SDSU drug operation that led to 75 arrests.
The students were running a large scale operation that resulted in the seizure of 4 pounds of cocaine, 50 pounds of marijuana, 48 plants, 350 Ecstasy pills, mushrooms, 30 vials of hash oil, meth and some illegal firearms. Apparently they were quite cavalier about who they would deal to and the above example of their mass text marketing is quite brazen.
Text messages are not secure and are cataloged on your mobile carriers system. I’m not aware of an SMS client or even a Mobile IM client that can enable secure communication between mobile phone users. I’m not advocating illicit activities, merely pointing out that every message to our friends and girlfriends could be displayed at a press conference like this one.
