TellMe is a Location-Based Service that allows you to search for local business and services using only your voice. You can use it to find a business and get directions using the GPS embedded in your phone. Other services include the ability to find and buy tickets using Fandango, get traffic updates or weather information. TellMe was only available on a select number of Java-based phones with GPS chips and they just released a version for the Blackberry. TellMe is a Microsoft subsidiary, so hopefully they will also make a Windows Mobile version once more Pocket PCs include GPS.
If TellMe isn’t available for your phone they also provide access to their Voice Search service via 1-800-555-TELL similar to Google’s 4112, but it’s easier with a location-aware application on your phone. I wonder if it plays well with Voice-dialing applications for serious bluetooth fiends. This is a really interesting fusion of mobile, location and voice services and looks like a very innovative product.

Technology is awesome and I think the future for automation is bright. But when I call automated free 411 I get the wrong listing time and time again. But if you call 800-411-SAVE, it has free 411 but uses real people to get your listing, just like paid 411. Much better than the aggrevating automation you go through with other automated services.
I used 800-411-SAVE, a free service, last Friday to get the number of a pizza restaurant that was recommended to me. The operator quickly located the listing. Great first experience…I’d definitely use it again. See their video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLvUGXL4oCY
