Sega has announced that they’re working on a release of the popular gaming series Super Monkey Ball that is targeted for the iPhone. I can’t imagine a better game to make use of the accelerometer built into the iPhone and iPod Touch to help roll your monkey through dangerous levels while collecting bananas and other bonuses. This is also one of the best ‘casual games’ from the console world, so hopefully it will be well executed on the mobile platform.
iPhone gaming might just be a hot trend as developers get a chance to release their iPhone SDK applications. We’ve already seen a Quake Demo and a CrazyKart announcement. Maybe this will help bring mobile gaming at large into the forefront for 2008.
