7 Twitter Clients for Mobile Phones

It’s hard to find a way to follow all of your Twitter updates without being interrupted by a constant barrage of noise. While it’s easy to update your twitter status via SMS, keeping track of your friends on the go would require near-constant text messages. You can subscribe to @ replies, but sometimes you just want to scan through the latest and greatest from the Twitterverse on your phone. I’m hoping for an integrated IM and Twitter application like what Digsby is for the desktop, which seems to be Yahoo OneConnect’s goal.

Until then, check out these mobile Twitter tools:

1. Tiny Twitter (for any Blackberry, Windows Mobile or Java-compatible phone)

Uses simple text-based menus to bring you, “just the facts.”

2. Twitterberry (for, you guess it- Blackberry)

Uses text and gets each persons icons. Also allows you to watch public timelines.

3. Twobile (for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs or Smartphones)

Full featured client lets you update, view friends and the public timeline, and launches from a system tray icon.

4. ceTwit (for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs or Smartphones)

Pulls icons and twits, allows you to reply or open a users profile by clicking on their message.

5. Twitteresce (for any Java-enabled phone)

Slick background with text updates that will work even if you don’t have a fancy smartphone or PDA.

6. Getmobio Twitter (for Windows Mobile, Blackberry or Java-enabled phones)

Getmobio installs a client that then allows you to chooses widgets to run on your phone. That way you can get news, sports scores, etc on your phone if you didn’t have them already. They just added Windows Mobile support.

7. Twibble (for Java-enabled phones)

Location aware Twitter client for Java phones that use a gps chip like Boost or many Sprint-Nextel phones.

I think that a mixed IM that is location aware would be really interesting. With FireEagle coming to fruition, I believe location aware IM, and social network tools should be the big hit this year. If you couldn’t tell, I’m a big fan of location-casting or location-based blogging and like to aggregate my status. If you have another software download that you recommend, please tell us about it in the comments!
