If you’ve ever tried to sync your Outlook Calendar with Google, you know how difficult a task it can be. The free tools out there that I’ve tried in the past have fallen short, mangling my calendar and losing all of my important recurring meetings. I just wanted to be able to share my calendar with my friends and family online as we’re all so busy and want to keep up with one another.
Yet again, Google has answered the call and turned a distasteful task into a joy and an ease. Last evening Google announced Google Calendar Sync, a desktop application that extracts your appointments, converts them to iCal, and uploads them to your Google Calendar account. It’s your choice whether you want to sync one-way or two-way, and a system tray icon alerts you if there’s a problem with Syncing.

The sync utility does not recognize private events specified in Outlook. It will sync everything up.
