Noted iPhone hacker Core has just gotten the open source torrent client Transmission to run natively on the iPhone! I know that I predicted that the SDK would bring us limited useful applications, but I may have been wrong. I’m not sure that the UI is quite ready for prime time, as you can tell by the above screenshot, but that is likely to be a much easier issue.
The only downside is that it would take quite a while to download an album or especially a movie over EDGE. However, I could see someone opening a torrent site of content formatted specifically for the iPhone.
