I had a chance to spend a little time playing with Yahoo Go on my Windows Mobile 6 PDA over the weekend. The overall design is good and the navigation responsive, though the initial load time took a bit. That could be a drag when you’re on the go. I wonder whether it would grind to a halt when loaded with rss, sports and stocks. Although if you kept Yahoo Go running it would download all your content for you and have it waiting.
Yahoo Go allows you to access Mail, Search, Local Search, News, Sports, Stocks, Watchlist, Weather and Flickr from one interface. Yahoo News generally does an awesome job of organizing news, so I use it at times to keep up specifically with Technology, Business and Top Stories. The two downsides I noticed were the absence of Yahoo Messenger and that Go did a poor job of managing its internet connection.
The Flickr application is really helpful for both uploading and viewing pictures into your galleries. In fact, it just might make the whole thing worthwhile. Version 3 is coming soon, so I’m looking forward to checking it out.
