After spending a couple days on the go with Opera Mobile on my windows mobile 6 HTC herald, I must say I am impressed. From rendering the full page to zoom in capabilities, it’s quite an attractive browser for the windows mobile platform. I found the finger navigation to be user friendly while both zoomed out and zoomed in. You can also use the directional pad on most smartphones helps to navigate different areas of the page while zoomed out as well as following a list of links for easy non-stylus clicking. It seems overall faster at rendering pages than pocket internet explorer in my opinion.
The Downside:
The one major complaint that I have is Opera Mobile’s dialog boxes for entering text turn into massive notepads. This could be handy for typing massive amounts of text like emails, or blog entries, but for the simple URL, I find it annoying.
Overall, the Opera team has done an awesome job of upgrading the native Windows Mobile browser. And even better- I’m sure it will only improve in subsequent releases.
