Palringo: Free Mobile IM Client

Palringo

If you’re anything like me, you’re always searching for a better IM client for your phone. A FREE mobile IM client with a great user experience has eluded most of us for some time. Agile Messenger was close to filling this spot for Windows Mobile, but then they cut off the free beta, leaving their fans out in the cold and unsatisfied. Today I just may have discovered the mobile IM client of my dreams in Palringo.

Palringo has the smoothest user interface that I’ve seen to date on a Pocket PC. It also boasts support for virtually every platform: AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo, MSN Messenger, ICQ and Gadu-Gadu. Palringo is also unique in that it has native support for Push to Talk and Camera messaging. They’re saved as picture or recording files and transmitted to your buddies. Along with these services they require free registration using your email address.

While I tested the Windows Mobile client, Palringo is also available for Symbian and Java based phones. One small caveat, if downloading via your Windows Mobile phone, Opera’s browser identification seems to give the server that detects your OS a difficult time. I recommend using PIE for a seamless download.

The push to talk for voice and sending images really couldn’t be easier, or any faster than it is. This is my personal choice for my new Windows Mobile IM client!
