Linkedin Mobile

Yesterday, Linkedin announced the release of their new mobile site for accessing their business-oriented social network. You can easily access this site from any WAP enabled mobile phone by going to http://m.linkedin.com. This change actually signals the release of two different mobile versions: one for most web enabled cell phones and one specifically for Safari on the iPhone.

I also noticed a number of changes in their standard web interface that give users more control of the modules you see when logged in. As a business networking tool, I’m not sure how often I would want to log into Linkedin Mobile from my phone. The feature is interesting on Facebook because of it allows you to update your status message and see your friends’ updates, but Linkedin doesn’t have updates. However, it may be handy when looking for a contact’s contact information while on the road.

Either way, Linkedin has been investing a lot of time on their firefox and outlook toolbars, web interface and now mobile. They’re my favorite social network for work and I’m impressed to see them continuing to invest in new features.
