A few weeks ago BusinessWeek ran an article about the relaunch of the AOL Mobile portal, and our current focus on bringing our products and services to mobile handsets. As a big user of mobile technology and the mobile web, I was thrilled with the layout of our new portal.
The new layout includes more robust content while keeping navigation to our various news channels very easy. While MSN has done a similar relaunch, I believe that our site also provides easier access to very useful services, such as Mail, Moviefone, Mapquest and even MyAOL Favorites. Yahoo is still using a decidedly outdated test-based wap site.
Last Friday we also had an internal Product Fair to showcase some of the enhancements for other mobile product areas that will be launching shortly. I was very impressed by the leaps in Mapquest and proposed direction for AIM, as well as some of the prototypes that (hopefully) I’ll have an opportunity to test in the coming weeks.
Check out our new mobile portal by simply pointing your mobile browser at www.aol.com.
